For my content submission I decided to map out a template for a Facebook page we would create and maintain for our potential clients. Out of our target markets identified I will provide more examples for local businesses located on Main St. in Plymouth, NH and the local ski resorts. The main focuses on our Facebook pages will be:
1. An enticing homepage with relevant pictures and prominent information about the business.
2. Frequent posts that will keep customers up to date on news and events in relation to the client’s business.
3. Facebook has begun offering new services. One of those being “Live Stream” videos, this can definitely be used in an advantageous way for certain businesses.
4. Another new feature Facebook has acquired is a “story” section that is very similar to the one Snapchat offers. This will work in correlation with frequent posts but simply present the information in a different way.
Creating an enticing homepage may be the most important component of this package and the first step in our process. Starting from the top of a Facebook page going down the first thing a viewer will see is their profile picture and their cover photo. A profile picture is a good place for the companies logo or brand label. This picture is located in the upper left hand side of the page and also will appear next to the name of your page when it is being searched. Unless your business has very high brand recognition, it would be beneficial to include the name of your business in this image displayed in a creative way set in the style you wish your business to portray. The next image that takes up the rest of the space at the top of your Facebook page is the cover photo. This photo has many more successful options to choose from. You can elect to choose an image of your business or an aesthetic picture that is pleasing to the eye and would make a customer interested in your business. You may also consider making this a picture of your business in action, as in a photo of a group of customers all with smiles on their faces or someone participating in an activity at your location. Underneath the profile picture there are several links to fast track you to pictures and videos posted in your feed. (this will be further discussed in section 2) However there is an important link labeled “about”. This is a very important section that will inform customers about the details or your business. This includes location and directions to your business, contact information, hours of operation, and other small bits of information depending on your type of business.
Posting on Facebook for businesses can be extremely fruitful for this is a great method of marketing. Once a customer has “liked” your business Facebook page your posts will appear on their news feed whenever they log onto Facebook. This is something we can offer to our clients that we can maintain for them. This is a great method for product promotion or informing customers about sales or timely deals in a fast easy way. When relevant, we can also include pictures and videos along with text in a post to grab the viewers’ attention. Below is an example of a Facebook post that would promote a “happy hour” at a bar in town.
What are you and your crew up to tonight? That what I thought, Tuesdays can be bland after you have had a long day at work or school. Stop by the Lucky Dog between 5-7 for Happy Hour!! Drinks are half price get on down here!!!!
Facebook has a new service called “live” streaming. This is where on your phone or laptop you start recording a video where others can jump over to your page and begin watching live at exactly the same tie that you are recording the video. This could be used to advertise and show off certain events at your business such as if there was live music at your restaurant or if it is currently snowing at your ski resort.
Facebook has another new service called “story”. This is similar to Snapchat where you capture an image or video and it appears at the top of someone’s news feed and only stays up there for 24 hours. This has similar advantageous aspects as the live stream described in #3. A unique benefit to this is that it appears at the top of your followers’ news feed so they see it before they begin scrolling through all the posts from their friends and other businesses they follow.
